"Holiday of Holidays", December 2014
In times of heightened tension and growing distance between communities in Israel, The Leo Baeck Education Center forged ahead with its “Holiday of Holidays” celebratory program. The week long program of events brought together families from the Jewish, Christian and Muslim communities of Haifa to enjoy arts-&-crafts and music workshops, tours around the multi-cultural neighborhoods of Haifa, lectures and panel discussions.

What a “Knitzvah”! November 2014
Thank you to the “Knitzvah” knitting and crocheting group of Temple Emanu-El, Sarasota, Florida, who sent a box full of their knitted sweaters and blankets. These gifts of love were distributed amongst babies and young children at The Leo Baeck “Beit Ligdol Tov” Center, to keep them warm this winter.

A Guest Speaker from The American Embassy at Leo Baeck
Captain Benjamin Coffman Business Team Lead, DCMA, from The American Embassy in Tel Aviv, spoke with Leo Baeck Senior High School students about the American Civil Rights Movement. Captain Coffman was invited to Leo Baeck as part of the school's practice of tying Hanukah, the festival of enlightenment, with International Human Rights Day. Both of which are celebrated in December.
Also attending the lecture was a group of students from the Haifa Arab Christian School "The Sisters of Nazareth”. Leo Baeck and "The Sisters of Nazareth" also participate together in the Friends Forever Program, a program designed to bring youth from different religious backgrounds together.

Leo Baeck senior students led tours and discussions at an interactive exhibition about democracy and tolerance for all our students. Our Grade 11 students took it to the extreme when they virtually crossed oceans and continents to engage in discussion (via Skype) about Rabin with fellow Jewish students at The Scholem Aleichem School in Buenos Aires.
